Rector launches Soccom’s YouTube channel

KOTA KINABALU: The rector of St Simon Catholic Church Likas launched the Soccom Ministry’s YouTube channel on July 6.

Fr Cosmas Lee said since the partial lockdown took effect in Malaysia some four months ago on March 18, the people need to have a new attitude, be more responsible and accept that there will be more inconvenience, among others, due to the pandemic crisis.

“After four months, we thank God we can now talk about reopening our Church, at least partially for Mass,” Fr Cosmas said, adding that details on date, online booking for Mass attendance, among others, will be made available on the parish website and Facebook page soon.

On why the parish opted to start live-streaming its Masses, Fr Cosmas said “because this is going to be a long-term affair”.

“We need to stream Mass to keep our flock together,” he said. “We need to maintain that sense of belonging and to be connected, especially with those who can’t come and join us physically in the church.”

He hoped parishioners and churchgoers would subscribe to the channel so they will be notified ahead of the live-streaming.

Also present at the event were live-stream and audio crew members Denis Tsen, Douglas Yu, Mitch Micheal, Stefyanie Myla Micheal, Tracy Lim and Vincent Wong, as well as seminarian Wilson Francis. – by Audrey J Ansibin
