LIKAS: After several months’ renovation, the main Church of St Simon Church Likas reopened on Oct 11, 2015.

Its rector Fr Cosmas Lee presided at the Mass and said all glory should be to God for the Church’s completion.

While it is good to have a clean and neat place of worship, the Church is really about Jesus’ presence, Fr Cosmas reminded the parishioners.

“It is good to be home,” he said, after returning from his leave-cum-pilgrimage in Europe.

It was a double joy for the parish community and church-goers as they were able to welcome back the rector and also celebrate Mass in the refurbished Church after having used the parish hall throughout the renovation period.

The renovation works include rewiring, changing of tiles, waterproof works, reinstallation of the ceiling and lights and repainting of the pews, among others. Other minor works are ongoing.

In the duration of the rector’s leave, priests from the Sacred Heart Cathedral had been celebrating Mass at the parish – namely Fr Jeffri Gumu, Fr Rhobby Mojolou as well as Fr Matheus Luta who had since left for Rome to continue his studies.
