    1. Hi Philip, sorry but I was not able to trace your email address. We referred your enquiry with the parish treasurer, and he said donation to the parish can’t be included for personal income tax exemption from IRB. Thanks and God bless.

  2. Is there any All Souls mass?I can’t find it in the bulletin only All Saints on eve 31st October 2019. Thank you.

  3. I relish the experience attending Evening Mass Services at St Simon Likas… The 6 pm services at the close of a busy weekday allows the spirit and the soul and the mind to contemplate the events of the day and restoration before lying down on bed every night which potentially is always the last night full earth before one meets His Maker if he is worthy. The homily of Father Cosmas delivered whenever He presides is short but precise and like a vitamin pill potent and full of enriching goodness.. Sufficient nourishment for the day. To me the Mass and its sacrifice was well explained by a Pentecostal American who gave a video presentation of a man bringing his best sheep to be sacrificed at the Temple.. The video was a cartoon but moments before its slaughter one could observe the tears in the eyes of the sheep and the sheep owner bringing his best to be offered to God. From that moment I understood the Mass and the sacrifice it is and requires since the Old Testament is a representation of the New. Everytime we go to Mass we bring our Lord the best Sheep to be sacrificed at the altar and like that video tears would fall down your eyes if you understood what you are doing. Protestant apologetics is no match for the high drama that takes place at every Mass. Life without sacrifice is like eating meat without salt. So it does not really matter what is the politics of the Parish Council or how well the choir sings or if the fans or aircon does not work too well or the Priest take too long to deliver His Homily… Every Mass is high drama and ultimate sacrifice in Heaven and Earth.. It took a Pentecostal theologian to reveal that to me a d he himself understood not what he spoke.. Catholicism is the ultimate form of Christianity…. And the Mass is the greatest sacrifice on Earth as it is in Heaven.. Father Cosmas in his almost perfect celebration of the Mass and striving for faultless detail brings out a great revelation understanding of the Mass like the priests who served in the Holies of Holies and those who lacked the reverence demanded were struck to death when they touched the Ark of the Covenant….. I just hope the Choir of St Simon would sing more contemporary hymns and music at Sunday services…. MARCEL JUDE JOSEPH.. 1ST DAY OF JANUARY 2019

    1. Dear Marcel,

We thank you for sharing your positive experience of the Eucharistic celebration at St Simon, especially for the experiencing the Mystery of the Lord’s Saving Sacrifice. We are doing our best, within much constrain, to try to select hymns whose music genre and lyrics are least inconsistent with what Mother Church considers appropriate for the celebration of the liturgy, whether traditional or contemporary. Most contemporary hymns are destined for personal devotion, “Praise and Worship” and similar, not for use during the liturgy or Mass. In fact, Mother Church considers liturgical music as those that sing the GIVEN TEXTS in the Roman Missal for the particular celebration of the day.
      Once again thank you!

  6. Hello,

The Church Timetable states that the chapel is open from 7am to 9pm. Is it open daily?
This is because I would like to have some ‘quiet time’ with the Lord. Is it allowed – like what Sacred Heart and Stella Maris does?
    Thank you.

  8. Need to know st. Simon’s service timetable for holy thursday, Friday mass & Saturday mass? Appreciate your help. Tx

    1. Dear Jennifer,

The Holy Week schedule is available on the main page. But if you have trouble finding it, here is the schedule:

      – Holy Thursday (7.30pm)
      – Good Friday (3pm)
      – Easter Vigil (7.30pm)

Hope that helps! See you in church.

      God bless!

  9. I attended the 0830 mass this morning (13/10/2013) and was utterly disappointed that not even a mention was made of the impending Court of Appeal decision tomorrow (14/10/2013) with regard to the usage of the word “Allah” by Malaysian Christians. The significant number of the affected Christians are those resident in the East Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak. As such, it is rather shocking that a special intention was not included in the Prayers of the Faithful, or at some other point during the Mass. Whereas our brothers and sisters in West Malaysia have been holding special prayers, vigils and masses for this intention. Shame on us East Malaysian Catholics!
