Losing our life for the Master’s sake

Today, however, Jesus is saying the same about loving God, but telling it differently, in the context of comparing our actual affections and love. In this true-to-life way, He jolts us out of our comfort and forces us to see how true is our discipleship.

My flesh is real food and my blood is real drink

In today’s language, “to have fellowship” is to share food and drink together. What greater communion there is when we share the common Meal of the Eucharist in which the Body and Blood of our One Lord is eaten and drunk, together!

God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son

Unity is strength, that will never change. To distance socially is only possible if the whole community is united to agree heartily. But that unity is not possible unless the individual person is himself strong in love and care of others. Remember, God is One and God is Three

Go and make disciples of all nations

At the Ascension, as the disciples were fixated looking at the Risen Lord being lifted up to heaven and disappearing into the clouds, they were told that Jesus would come back in the same way they saw Him going up (at the end of time).
