Archbishop’s advice to affected churchgoers: ‘Stay home’

KOTA KINABALU: In light of the events at the Church of Mary Immaculate in Bukit Padang, here, the head of the Catholic archdiocese advised those who have attended masses at CMI to refrain from going to other churches as the sub-parish goes into a two-week suspension.

“Please stay at home and follow the live streaming Masses instead,” Archbishop John Wong said in a communique on Aug 5.

“For extra precautions, I would advice those who have attended Mass at CMI on July 19 and 26 not to attend Masses in other churches in the next two weeks.”

He further apologised for the “inconveniences” that the affected churchgoers had to go through.

“Let us pray that it is only an isolated case and we can resume Mass at CMI again after two weeks.”
