year of mercy logoKOTA KINABALU: In line with the Jubilee Year of Mercy (JYM), the St Simon Catholic Church Likas Pastoral Care Ministry is organising a “Love-in-a-shoe box” programme.

The project involves the Sunday School students who are encouraged to contribute by asking them to design and fill the shoe boxes with their own handcrafted prayer cards and personal gifts.

The recipients, children in the rural areas, will also get to know the name of the students who prepared the gifts and are encouraged to respond.

As seen in the pictures, the students were excited as they prepared their shoe box gifts which will be distributed by the Ministry’s outreach team in the next few months.

This is part of the Ministry’s JYM projects to encourage the parish children to reach out in a personal way to their less privileged counterparts.
