Some 130 parishioners comprising Ministry leaders and various members of the ministries and groups, including parishioners not involved in any of the ministries, attended a two-day discernment at the St Simon Church Likas Parish Hall on August 22-23, 2014.
The “Prayer, Pastoral Discernment and Planning 2014” was assisted by the vicar apostolic of the Diocese of Penang, Monsignor Bernard Paul whose topics included Discernment Approaches, Message to the Seven Churches and Gaudium Evangelii (The Gospel of Joy), among others.
The recent discernment is a follow-up on the previous sessions with the objective to:
- provide a brief summary with concrete examples of the prevalent culture of death today;
- recapture the joy of the Gospel in order to begin anew with a positive attitude before embarking on proposing concrete ways of proclaiming the gospel of life through the ministries and in and through the family.
