Reception of Holy Communion

Only practising Catholics in the state of grace may receive Holy Communion.
To maintain a good and dignified flow in the reception of Holy Communion during Mass, each communicant, when approaching the Blessed Sacrament, are to show a sign of veneration to Christ in the sacrament by a deep bow, extend their hands respectfully, answer “Amen” to “Body of Christ”, receive the sacred host in their hand, step aside and consume (eat and swallow) the Body of Christ before returning to their seat.
Parishioners who choose to receive Communion on the tongue may do so, but they must receive it standing not kneeling so as not to disrupt the flow of so many people receiving communion. Those who choose to venerate the presence of Christ in the Sacrament with a genuflection rather than a deep bow, may do so, but again, should do so without disrupting the flow.
